I know a few people that work at the Shilo Inns, and have told me they feel like they are scared of their job security recently. In the restaurant industry now days, job security is hard to come across, everyone has to try harder, it doesn't matter if you have been at the job a day or 20 years. Restaurants have changes all the time, If what is being done is for the better, especially dealing with the owners history, then let the change happen. I will also say, that my friends that work there also do feel under appreciated, they told me what their "christmas bonus" was last year, and that one I don't agree with. With a major company, if the employees don't feel appreciated, it will reflect in the company. I have noticed that some of the employees "just don't care." I try to make sure that my workers are happy. I don't do everything that they want, but I am willing to listen to them and let them know that their opinions are being heard. I just ate out at the restaurant at the Shilo Inns on Airport Way today. I eat there fairly frequently because one of our offices is located down the street. I know that when I go to the Shilo I can always get right in, get a quick lunch and be back on my way. Matt was my waiter today and usually is when I eat there. He has been there as long as I have been going there which is over 10 years. I usually have the cobb salad or the french dip. Today Matt offered up the grilled turkey special that had a spicy aioli sauce, I chose that for my meal and it was great. I had an hour to kill before my next meeting but my food came out so fast I was done in less than 30 minutes. So I just brought my laptop out and logged on to the free Shilo wifi and worked from the restaurant. Even though I was visibly done with my meal and had paid my bill Matt would come by and check on me every once in a while to make sure I did not need anything else. I will always choose the Shilo over big chain restaurants that surround the Shilo. The food is good and their service is always great. I just came across this article and I found kind of strange.
