Gary Boggs first exposure to sailplanes was in January of 1967 when he first read a fantastic article in the National Geographic magazine. He was 14 years old and had always been interested in aviation but at this point he knew a sailplane (or glider) was what he really wanted to fly. Ten years later, in 1977, he had the time and the money so he began taking lessons at the local glider operation,, and has been consumed by the sport ever since. He got his Commercial Glider rating in 1990 and Instructors Rating (CFIG) in 2002. He have over 2000 hours in gliders and started his own commercial soaring operation in Hood River, Oregon in 2003. Gary holds 18 Oregon state soaring records and is the SSA Governor for the State of Oregon.
