Portland's Best Coffee & Espresso Roasters

Two of the most important factors in a great cup of coffee are the brewing temperature of the water and the quality of the water. Portland is also crawling with coffee houses. According to the Portland Yellow Pages, before Starbucks came to Portland in 1989, there were 28 coffee shops in the city.

Portland is home to hundreds of specialty coffee operations and some of the best roasteries in the US. With expertly trained baristas in an alluring casual atmosphere, Espresso and Americano coffee shops are expanding not just in Portland but worldwide. While the largest producers of coffee are generally developing countries, the largest consumers of coffee are generally developed countries.

 

Most lower priced off the shelf brands of coffee are blends of Robusta and Arabica. However, the highest quality grades of coffee are grown at the higher altitudes. As for price, experts say that fair trade products like coffee are no more expensive than specialty versions. Most enemies of roasted coffee are moisture, temperature change, odors, and oxygen.

Portland is also crawling with coffee houses. Stumptown Coffee Roasters, Portland Coffee House, Powell's, Starbucks (obviously) Pete's and others. According to the Portland Yellow Pages, before Starbucks came to Portland in 1989, there were 28 coffee shops in the city.  Portland is the epicenter for coffee or at least one of them.
