The Story Of Julia Iorio Mastromonaco
Chef Christopher Thompson's great-grandmother, Julia Iorio, was born in Lusciano, Italy. She emigrated from the small suburb of Naples to the United States and married Bernardino Mastromonaco on 30 October 1921. On a typical Sunday evening in her upstate New York farm house, the kitchen was full of family and friends, and rich aromas of roasted chicken and potatoes with pasta. The italian immigrant inspired a generation with her calamari, ravioli, homemade wine, and adventurous spirit.
