The heart and soul of Portland shopping can be found in it's neighborhood shopping districts
Shopping Portland Neighborhoods
Portland is a great town for shopping especially with the added incentive of no sales tax! Portland has all the usual stores & malls you will find around the country, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, Gap, Potter Barn and many more. But there are so many interesting and fun shops around town. Portland's neighborhoods offer some great chic shopping and have become real destination shopping districts. The retail, business, and living spaces have blended to create local shops that reflect the neighborhoods they reside.
Because they are located in neighborhoods you will find them clustered throughout the city. You may want to explore the shopping center at John's Landing and its neighborhood along Southwest Macadam Boulevard, south of downtown Portland. Or The Hollywood District, with its epicenter at Northeast Sandy and 41st and Beaumont Village. Northeast Fremont between 40th and 50th Street and the small collection of shops at Southeast 26th and Clinton. These little shopping areas serve primarily the nearby residents, but they are worth checking out. We encourage you to stroll whatever neighborhood you're in. Or you can be adventureous and check out some new neighborhoods on your own, who knows what fine harvests are in store? Here are some other areas that are worth checking out; The Pearl District, NW 23rd Avenue, Hawthorne District and Downtown.
Another fun and differant shopping experience is The Portland Saturday Market. The Saturday Market takes place every weekend under the Burnside Bridge on the West side of the river. The market offers some of the most interesting shopping in the area. The Saturday Market is open from March through December.
