Oregon’s first Just Wait Teens- a Teenage Alcohol, Tobacco and Drug Prevention Program is being launched in tiny Depoe Bay, Oregon. “Just Wait” is the slogan of the Just Wait Teens program. Its purpose is to help prevent teenage alcohol, tobacco, and drug problems by encouraging teens to “just wait” before they even consider using drugs, alcohol, or tobacco products. This is accomplished by giving a $1000 award to every teenager who completes four years of the Just Wait Teens program and graduates from high school alcohol, tobacco, and drug free.
The Just Wait Teens program was developed by the Just Wait Foundation, a grass roots, IRS 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. After 8 years of research and development, the Just Wait Teen program has received the funding for the first 13 Lincoln County teenagers.
The purpose of the Just Wait Teens is to help teens learn how to use and understand their Temperament, their Talents, Attributes, Gifts (TAGs) to enjoy the benefits of our society and at the same time encouraging them to “Just Wait” before they even consider using any substance, alcohol, tobacco and drug problems. EVERY teen who completes the 4 year Just Wait Teens program, stays alcohol, tobacco, and drug free and graduates from high school will receive a one thousand dollar award - ($1000.00)
Teenagers, Parents, Families, and especially Grandparents are invited to one or both meetings. At each of the two introductory meetings, the first part of the Just Wait Teen™ program will be demonstrated. Purple Non Complaining Bracelets and $1000 “virtual” Blank Desire of Your Heart Checks Stock will be distributed at each meeting.
The Just Wait Teens program is not designed for a teenager that already has a "substance abuse" problem. Substance - alcohol, tobacco and drugs - have always exist and probably always will, but the Foundation encourages teenagers to “Just Wait.” The Just Wait Foundation is not associated with any religious, civic or governmental agency. It is willing to provide speakers to any organization, at any time in Lincoln County to explain the Just Wait Teen program.
