Did you know?
The Pacific Northwest has one of the highest prevalence rates of MS in the world. Children as young as two years-old are being diagnosed with MS. More than half of all people with MS are unable to work. People living with MS face an uncertain future because they cannot predict the timing, severity, or nature of their symptoms. They live, not knowing whether they will be able to continue working, caring for their families, or living the lifestyle they have grown used to.
Oregon - bike MS: Covering Bridges 2008 will be working to support programs, services, and research sponsored by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and that makes a huge difference to the people who must fight MS every day of their lives.
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is dedicated to ending the devastating effects of MS. They simultaneously fund research for a cure while also helping people who currently live with MS lead more fulfilling lives.
Search through their participants to read personal stories and see why others are participating for MS and why they are counting on you to join them. Here is Kevin's story:
Kevin deals with the effects of MS every day. Fortunately for him, the continuous treatments, aid & support that he has received since his diagnosis in 1999 have made the difference. It is a fight. The fight, however, is not over. It won’t be over until the cure is found. He gets more out of the rides than he ever thought possible. This is why he rides. In turn, he hopes to raise as much as possible for to help fund research into the cause, treatment and cure for MS and provide services to those living with MS in Oregon. Since he has started riding on the NMSS Bike Tours in 2003, his ‘Team Amulet’ has raised over $27,500 to help the NMSS complete its mission to end the devastating effects of Multiple Sclerosis. Kevin's goal is to raise $10,000.00
and he has achieved $ 50.00. If you would like to donate to Kevin's cause go to: www.brieandkevin.com
Kevin believes you should sponsor him because Brie & Kevin have raised over $10,000 for the fight against MS. This year, their goals and targets are higher. He can't do it without your continued support.....The National Multiple Sclerosis Society will use funds collected from the MS Bike Tour to not only support research for a cure tomorrow, but also to provide programs which address the needs of people living with MS today. Because they can fight this disease by simply riding a bike, because they have chosen to help thousands of people through a contribution to the MS Bike Tour, they are now getting closer to the hour when no one will have to hear the words, "You have MS."
