The AST Dew Tour debuted in June 2005, as the first ever Action Sports Tour. The Tour is made up of five major events that take place over the course of five months, June thru October, and features skateboarding (park and vert), BMX (park, vert and dirt) and freestyle motocross. The Tour awards champions in the six disciplines with the Dew Cup at season’s end based on a cumulative points system. There is $2.5 million in prize money – the largest in action sports – and an additional $1 million bonus pool based upon year-end standings. The AST Dew Tour is broadcast on NBC, MTV and USA Network, as well as distributed worldwide, in over 100 different countries! At each Dew Tour event there is also a live concert featuring top artists and a huge Festival with video gaming, BMX and Skate interactive courses, giveaways with tons of new products to try out, and the list goes on and on. You also have the opportunity to get autographs and meet your favorite athletes!
More than 150 of the top action sports athletes in the world will return for the fourth season of the AST Dew Tour to compete for the highly coveted Dew Cup. Last year’s 2007 Dew Cup champions include Nate Adams (Freestyle Motocross), Jamie Bestwick (BMX Vert), Daniel Dhers (BMX Park), Ryan Nyquist (BMX Dirt), Shaun White (Skateboard Vert) and Ryan Sheckler (Skateboard Park).
The Outdoor Festival at the AST Dew Tour is a mind-blowing maze of freebies, high-tech challenges, athlete autograph signings, food and fun. Sprawling for what seems like miles, the Outdoor Festival is the pit stop between competitions and is hard to part from.
Featured at every Dew Tour stop, the Festival area is guaranteed place where boredom is banned. This year, the partners of AST Dew Tour have gone above and beyond and have planned some of the most innovative activities for fans to try out.
Mountain Dew will be hosting ‘Dew Underground’, an area where fans can kick-it. Dew Underground celebrates and showcases the music, art, and culture of every Dew Tour city – get ready to enjoy each host city in an in-depth and fabulous way! There will also be athletes popping in and out of Dew Underground to sign autographs and kick-it with fans.
Head over to NowWhat.com and expend some energy climbing the rock wall that’s set-up within their event area. Show-off your style and skills by testing out some 2009 bikes on the Mongoose BMX dirt track. Hungry? Wendy’s is filling empty stomachs with free burgers. Why not chow down on that deliciousness while jamming to Ryan Sheckler’s playlist on his Panasonic limited-edition headphones?
Ok, admit it, most of us dream of being a bonafide rock star. Well, the answer to that dream is here! PlayStation is now giving Dew Tour fans the chance to perform at a concert this fall, just by taking a turn at RockBand. And fans who hit up the Verizon Wireless tent will walk away with a video of themselves pulling one of the many insane tricks Scotty Cranmer has under his belt.
Toyota has created a mega playground for Dew Tour attendees. Between soaking friends with the water cannon and taking in the tunes via Sonic Boom, fans will find it hard to move on from Toyota’s area. Toyota is also trying to keep the area clean and green with the ‘Prius Drop,’ a cool way to win prizes by simply recycling.
Boredom doesn’t exist on Dew Tour – between pro athlete sightings and signings, jaw-dropping competition, a live concert on Friday night at the Verizon Wireless stage and the HUGE outdoor Festival, the only challenge is deciding what’s next on the agenda!
