One survey shows that residents of townhouses, condos, and apartments decreased vehicle miles 38 percent from when they lived in a single-family home. According to the American Public Transportation Association, use of public transportation jumped to the highest level in five decades in 2006.
While some condo buyers seek upscale units, many properties are reasonably priced. Some buyers consider them their "starter homes others lifestyle living. Local residents on Jantzen Beach say its wonderful to be able to walk or bicycle to places they want to go including Washington state.
